Since last year, I've been thinking about rebuilding my personal website and starting a blog. To someone who builds sites and web applications on a daily basis, that shouldn't be such a challenge, right? Well, the reality is clearly more complex than the theory, and since the shoemaker's son always goes barefoot, any plans to resuscitate my site continued falling apart, and the blog was like that annoying ticket we all have in our backlog that we pretend it simply doesn't exist. But everything has its limit, including my procrastination, so here we are.
This is not the first time I have a blog. Back in the early 2000s, in my first years of university, I maintained a blog for a couple of years. That wasn't a development or technology-related blog—in fact, it didn't really have a specific subject, being more like a collection of off-topic posts, based on my daily reflections or whatever came up to my mind. It was very personal, somewhat vague at times, but I was quite active for a while and enjoyed doing it. However, I couldn't endure for long, and ended up abandoning it. You'd be surprised how hard it is to write about random things.
Yet another blog
Now, writing without a purpose doesn't interest me anymore. I need focus to keep motivated, and nothing more natural than focusing on writing about Drupal, which is part of my daily routine and something I really am fond of. I know I will eventually post about other topics, but the idea is not to deviate much from web development-related subjects.
Being part of the community
I view this blog as a piece of something bigger that I'd like to build: becoming a more active member of the Drupal community. I believe that sharing knowledge is a major factor for a community to thrive, and no matter the experience level, everybody has something to say and contribute. I'll write more about this in a future post, but beside sharing tutorials, tips and how-tos, all I envision for this blog is a space to add my two cents about all things Drupal. I'll revisit this subject in a future post, discussing community and contribution further.
I'll try my best to keep this blog as active as possible, being mindful of my own capacity and my actual will to write. I really want to take pleasure in maintaining this space, therefore ideas and posts will have to come up naturally. I really appreciate you reading until this point. I'd love to hear your thoughts, suggestions or any considerations you may have, so comments will be open. Also, you can always send me a message about any subject you'd like to discuss by filling out the form on the Contact page. Finally, if you like what you see so far and want to be in the loop when a new post is published, please feel free to subscribe to my RSS feed.
Once more, thank you for having me (or actually, stopping by), and I hope to find you here again very soon.
